‘Arrested Development’: Ron Howard Says Season 5 Writing Is Underway

Add this one to your full-to-bursting stash of Arrested Development season 5 hype. After the show’s producer Brian Glazer said there’d be 17 more episodes following season 4; after Will Arnett straight up said the show would be getting another crack; even after Netflix greenlit the season for 2016, Arrested Development’s friendly neighbourhood announcer Ron Howard told Good Morning America that the crew is finally knee-deep writing the fifth installment.

Ol’ mate Ron said “well, Mitch Hurwitz the creator of the show is working with writers now,” but that the only problem is the cast’s pesky popularity. ICYMI, literally everyone on the show has watched their career explode – see: Transparent, W/ Bob And David, The Gift, and whatever coke-fueled rampage ‘real’ Michael Cera is up to – and tying them down is a royal headfuck.

According to Howard:

“What has happened is that the cast has become so freakin’ in demand and busy. Everyone wants to do it. Fans want it… I’m the announcer and the narrator, and I have to get back to that microphone.”

Again, if the stars align and they all wind up on the same set, we can expect 17 fresh eps sometime in the new year.
