Anna Faris Hated Those “Love Is Dead” Comments After She & Chris Pratt Split

When beloved celebrity couple Anna Faris and Chris Pratt split up in 2017 after eight years of marriage and adorable Instagram posts, their fans were devastated. “Love is dead” was brought out time and time again – including by P.TV – as we all came to grips that this seemingly happy, attractive, totally in love couple were no longer keen on each other.

Opening up on friend Dax Shepard‘s podcast Armchair Expert this week, Faris said that the reaction to her split wasn’t exactly easy to deal with.

“Chris and I did talk about it. We got on the Twitter feed, ‘Love is dead’ and ‘Relationship goals’,” she said.

“We obviously cultivated something and it was rewarding for a while. It was like ‘People seem to think we got all this shit all right.’

“I had a little bit of a childish feeling of ‘Oh come on, fucking grow up’ — a little anger… But that’s not fair either because I cultivated it. We intentionally cultivated the idea of like, ‘Look at this beautiful family’, and there were so many moments that weren’t like that but like anything on social media, you don’t post ‘Where the fuck is the toilet paper?’ or whatever. I think it’s a very hard forum to be genuine, and I think it does a disservice to people to not be.”

But since the end of their relationship, Faris – who was married to actor Ben Indra prior to Pratt – says she’s not sure if marriage really is for her.

“I need to figure out what the purpose [of marriage] is,” she said. “Is it safety for your children? Is it convention? Is it so other people respect your relationship more?”

She continued: “For me, I’m just not quite sure where it fits. I am a romantic. I believe in a partnership, I believe in companionship. I just don’t know if I believe in a ceremony of a wedding … The first time I got married [I was] in a bikini in Tahiti covered in salt and it was a great day.”

But while Faris memoir revealed that prior to their breakup, she’d dealt with insecurity around rumours that Pratt was cheating with his Passengers co-star Jennifer Lawrence, it seems like the two of them have worked on creating a healthy post-marriage relationship for their son.

“We had an unbelievable marriage and we have a great friendship now, we love our son to death,” she said. “I’m really proud of that.”
