‘Anchorman 2’ Is Being Re-Released With An R-Rating And 763 New Jokes

It’s kind of a big deal, Paramount Studios and director Adam McKay have announced that they will re-release Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues with an R-rating and 763 alternate jokes.

McKay said that he would do something like this back in October, as the Anchorman franchise is notorious for being heavily improvised (thank you Will Ferrell). After the original Anchorman was shot, an entirely new film titled Anchorman: Wake Up With Ron Burgundy was created out of material that didn’t make the cut.

So, with this in mind, McKay has given Anchorman 2 a transfusion of sorts and replaced all the jokes with alternate R-rated jokes. Take that classification board of Australia.

“We did so much improv on this one that we can literally replace every single joke in the movie and put in alt scenes and alt improv runs … I know that I personally, if I loved a movie and someone told me that, like if ‘Airplane!’ had been released with all-new jokes, I’d be like, ‘you’ve got to be fucking kidding me!’ I’d see it in a second.”

So would we Adam. So would we.
