Congratulations are in order for Amanda Keller, who, as of this week, is being paid an enormous amount of money for saying amusing things with her mouth on breakfast radio.
News Limited report that Keller and Brendan Jones, who present the WSFM breakfast radio show in Sydney, have recently signed contracts worth more than a million dollars a year.
It’s a significant victory for Keller, who has been on the station for close to a decade while earning a fraction of that kind of money. This pay raise makes her the second woman on Aussie radio to earn more than a million big ones annually.
The other? That would be Jackie O, who, presenting skills aside, may actually deserve it for the sheer emotional trauma of spending so many years in such close proximity to Kyle Sandilands.
Keller and Jones recently smashed Kyle and Jackie O in ratings, proving first of all that there is some justice in the world, and secondly, that this pay rise is well-deserved.
While men still out-earn women on Australian radio – troll king Alan Jones is still on top, pulling in a reported $4 million per year – Keller’s success is proof that the tide is (slowly) turning.
