Mary’s Is Opening In Circular Quay Tomorrow With A Shit-Hot Vegan Menu

Who says that vegans can’t eat like trash like the rest of us? The team behind Mary’s sure as shit are making sure that a plant-based diet can still be indulgent as hell.

The new Circular Quay dirty burger joint is throwing its doors open tomorrow, May 1, with a fully-fledged, balls-to-the-wall vegan menu for those of us who live both a plant-based life and still want to desecrate our internal temple with delicious fried foods.

After announcing that they were taking over the reins of the iconic and historic Basement venue in Sydney‘s CBD, Jake Smyth and Kenny Graham decided to create a vegan menu that is pretty much the same as the trusty Mary’s menu, but all veg.

Alongside the classic fried chicken, you can cop a crumbed and fried cauliflower. As well as that hangover-curing burger, there’s a totally veg version on offer as well now – with a specially-created pattie, cheese, and special Mary’s sauce, all vegan.

The Mary’s team are really committing to the vegan offerings from go to whoa; all the ingredients will have its own separate coolroom, food will be prepared in its own area, with separate grills and fryers to make sure there’s absolutely no cross-contamination with animal products.

You know what’s definitely good for everyone at the bar no matter their food preferences or requirements though? A shot of Jack Daniels, many of which I’m CERTAIN will be had to christen the new digs.

Co-owner Jake Smyth is super psyched about the challenge of having a full vegan side of the menu and the new venue itself  – which also has a 30-seat Mary’s Alfresco dining if you wish to take the debauchery to the streets.

Using ‘veg only’ cool room and cooking equipment, it will allow our animal-friendly friends to choose ethics without sacrificing flavour. This ain’t Mary’s Health Food & Salad Bar – it’s fucking delicious plant-based food, designed to make your carnivorous mates jealous. And for our meat-eating pals – it’s business as fucking usual.

The upstairs bar and eatery is the first phase of the team’s plans for the space, with Mary’s Underground decked out with a fancy as fuck restaurant and full live music vcenue set to open in late May. We’ll keep you updated on that one when we get more info, folks.

Mary’s CQ is open from midday tomorrow until 12am, and will be open Monday – Wednesday 12pm – 12am, Thursday – Saturday 12pm – 1am, and Sundays 12pm – 11pm.
