Edible Balloons Exist & Folks In Syd Can Suck One Down This W/E

It’s all good, everyone. You can stop looking now. We’ve found it. We’ve found 2017’s peak, and we’re happy to share it’s a goddamn Edible Balloon Bar. No, you didn’t read that wrong. There’s legit going to be an Edible Balloon Bar at The Galeries‘ (located at 500 George St, Sydney) ‘SpringVention‘ event going down Thursday, September 7 to Sunday, September 10.

Seriously, how could you not go out of your way to experience edible air?! Especially when the aforementioned air is being offered in four flavours, including strawberry, coconut, orange and passionfruit, as well as Black Star Pastry‘s famous ‘Ginger Ninja‘. Oh, and if you just so happen to share your edible air experience on the ol’ ‘Gram (which, let’s face it, you most certainly will), then you’ll go into the draw to win a $500 shopping spree in The Galeries. Simply take a photo or video of your edible helium balloon, follow @thegaleries, and share + tag @thegaleries #thegaleries #springvention.

You can get around SpringVention’s Edible Balloon Bar during the below times:

Thursday, September 7 – 12pm-3pm + 5pm-7pm
Friday, September 8 – 12pm-3pm + 5pm-7pm
Saturday, September 9 – 12pm-3pm
Sunday, September 10 – 12pm-3pm

Now, folks, we’re sure that an Edible Balloon Bar is enough to get your loins down to SpringVention, but we’ve barely scratched the surface of what’s cracking during this four-day long festivity. Check out what else is going down below.

Gigi Falanga

SpringVention is being guest hosted by Zumbo’s Just Dessert‘s coach and emerging talent in Australian desserts + cakes, Gigi Falanga. She is beyond talented, having worked under some of Australia’s best pastry masterminds such as Anna Polybiou, John Ralley, Alfonso Ales and Teresa Cutter. You can catch her at SpringVention on September 7 and 9 from 12-4pm.

Twisted Taste Pop Ups

Popcorn just got a whole lot sexier, crew. A few of The Galeries’ premium retailers – including T Totaler, Fish Bowl and New Zealand Natural – are adding their own summin-summin to Kettle’s popular popcorn range and the results sound nek-level mouthwatering. You’ll be able to vote on your favourite ‘Twisted Taste‘ flavour, which will also put you in the running to win a $1000 shopping spree.

The Streets Of Spring

Artist, designer and collector Dina Broadhurst is almost too fabulous to function, which is likely why she was pegged to take over the laneways of The Galeries. Her beautiful collection ‘The Streets of Spring‘ explores the concepts of reflection, new love, regeneration and growth. If you have an appreciation for anything in the world of aesthetics, you’re gonna wanna see this.

The Tote Studio

Ain’t nobody living their best life if they don’t own a customised tote. Jokes, we’re sure you are, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to have one in your arsenal. If you drop over $150 during SpringVention, you can nip over to the Tote Studio and score yourself a free, customised tote that’ll be designed on the spot by two typographers. It doesn’t matter where you dropped cash to make up that $150, but just make sure you keep all of your receipts.

Live Entertainment

Last, but certainly not least, The Galeries have organised for some primo music during SpringVention. After you’ve given everything the once-over shopping/food/art wise, head to the ground floor at 12pm on any day during the festivities to hear acts like Mike Champion do their thang.

So yeah, we sure as hell won’t be missing SpringVention. We’ll see you down at 500 George St sometime between Thursday, September 7 to Sunday, September 10 – this will be something to write home about.
