Aussie lad Daniel Ricciardo’s currently on a hot run in Monaco for its Formula 1 Grand Prix this weekend.
In lead-up to the big day, the Red Bull Racing’s driver took part in the practice runs complete with a camera strapped to the vehicle so we – law-obliging drivers – can see what it’s like to fly at incredibly insane speeds and not cop a ticket… or crash and burn.
Between the lush streets of Monaco and the itty bitty inches between car and barrier, you’ll really gain some newfound appreciation for what these drivers do and are capable of.
Oh, and as if performing for the camera, Ricciardo casually set a new track record in his first practice run with a time of 12.126 and then beat that after lunch with an impressive time of one minute and 11 seconds.
In full, Ricciardo’s second practice run was 1:11.841 which was closely followed by Belgian-Dutch driver Max Verstappen at +0.194, and Germany’s Sebastian Vettel at +0.572.
The run was so smooth, Formula 1 decided to post the video to their official twitter account and it’s quite the view:
We have a new track record at Monaco@danielricciardo has become the first driver to record a lap in the 1m 11s around these iconic streets

Ricciardo really is a bloody talented driver.
Of the run, the Aussie said:
“I’m expecting all three teams to get below the one minute 12 seconds so it’s going to be a good fight and I feel we’ve set as much of a benchmark as we could today.”
The drivers will qualify come Saturday.
Last month, Ricciardo took home the win for the China Grand Prix beating Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton.
Naturally, the Aussie celebrated the win with a shoey because how else would you celebrate such a moment?

In his down time, Ricciardo’s been hanging around the stunning sights of Monaco:
The Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix will take place this Sunday 27 May.
Best of luck to the talented man.
