The upcoming entry into the God of War franchise just got one helluva sweet new trailer, along with a release date – April 20, AKA, the weed day.
The narrative-focused trailer outlines the story of Kratos and his son, Atreus, as they adventure through a world that’s one part Norse myth, 2 parts LSD fever dream. The video description puts it like this:
“Living as a man outside the shadow of the gods, Kratos must adapt to unfamiliar lands, unexpected threats, and a second chance at being a father,” it reads. “Together with his son Atreus, the pair will venture into the brutal Norse wilds and fight to fulfill a deeply personal quest.”
Take a look at the trailer for yourself below.
Pretty schmick, no? Look at that intense father-son interaction happening there. That’s narrative right there, folks. Cory Barlog, the game’s creative director, said in the PlayStation Blog that the release date for this title is “my favorite release day of my entire career. If I live to be 100, I do not think I will be able to top this release day”.
That’s a huge statement to make, especially since it’s going up against both Nintendo Labo and the weed day (well, technically 20/4 here, but whatever).
Either way, the PlayStation exclusive looks huge and I can’t wait to give it a whirl.
