Serena Williams Gives Birth To Baby Girl / Likely Future Grand Slam Champion

Tennis legend Serena Williams has given birth to a baby girl at a clinic in Florida, the first step in shoring up the Williams dynasty’s continued success on the court for the next generation.

Williams, whose partner is Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, was reportedly admitted to St Mary’s Medical Centre in West Palm Beach on Wednesday of this week.

The star confirmed her pregnancy to the world earlier this year after hitting the wrong button on Snapchat and posting a photo of her baby bump to her public story.

She deleted the post, but it was quickly screenshotted and shared, at which point, the cat was well and truly out of the bag, so she went ahead and confirmed the news with a joyous Instagram post.

The news of the birth broke just as sister Venus Williams was taking to the court for a US Open match, and she said she was “super excited – words can’t describe it.”

While there has still been no official confirmation, Serena Williams’ friends and colleagues are all over the news, with congratulations pouring in from Rafael Nadal and Beyoncé, among others.

Williams won the Australian Open this year while newly-pregnant, and in an interview with Vanity Fair, the 35-year-old said that she fully intends to defend her title next time around.

“It’s the most outrageous plan,” she said at the time. “I just want to put that out there. That’s, like, three months after I give birth.”

Williams has won 23 Grand Slam titles in her career so we wouldn’t put it past her. Whatever happens, our congratulations go out to the new parents!
