Serena Williams Confirms Pregnancy Snap Was A Classic Wrong Button Sitch

Serena Williams has built an astonishing career on her ability to power small, furry missiles, at over a hundred kilometres per hour, onto patches of earth the size of a postage stamp.

That doesn’t mean she won’t occasionally hit the Post To Story button on her Snapchat, though.

During a TED Talk in Vancouver on Tuesday night, the 23-time Grand Slam champion and all-around legend admitted the snap which revealed her pregnancy was posted entirely by accident.

Williams explained “I have this thing where I’ve been checking my status and taking pictures every week to see how far along I’m going,” which makes sense, given the image’s “20 weeks” caption.

She said “I’ve been so good about it; this was the one time that… I slipped.” Fortunately, that slip involved some legitimately great news, and not, uh, the kind of sensitive imagery others are prone to sending on the service.

Echoing the sentiments of everyone who’s ever posted online, Williams said “you know how social media is, you press the wrong button and…” before grinning like a champ.
Williams was pregnant at the time of her Australian Open victory earlier this year, and admitted that she found out forty-eight hours before the tournament was due to start.
In unbelievably boss style, she told the Canadian crowd she powered through because “I was supposed to win that tournament as I am every tournament that I show up, I am expected to win.

“If I don’t win, it’s actually much bigger news.”
As if that victory stopped more big news from getting out, hey?
