It may have been an absolute disgrace not only to the sport but also humanity itself, but one thing was clear about yesterday’s McGregor / Mayweather bout: even the most jaded critic had to concede it was pretty interesting.
Yep, against overwhelming odds – i.e. going up against a boxer in a boxing match while not being a boxer himself – Conor McGregor managed to hold his own regardless. Many observers thought that he blasted out of the gate hard and actually gave Mayweather a tough fight for the first three or so rounds.
The official scorecard hit the internet last night, and it shows that Conor’s lauded opening performance wasn’t unanimously loved among the judges. Check it:
Whereas judge Dave Moretti agreed with the sizeable McGregor contingent and gave Conor the first three rounds, the other two judges Burt Clements and Guido Cavalleri only handed him one round each.
You may be shocked to learn that there are people out there who do not agree with the scoring.
Great fight tonight… @FloydMayweather was the better fighter on the evening. But this scorecard is ridiculously bad! Anyone disagree!?! pic.twitter.com/k7WupJRbOs
