Ask anyone: scoring Byron Bay accommodation during peak season – be it for one of their many festivals, NYE or Easter Long Weekend – is always a bloody shit fight. In fact, you really have to book months in advance to find a sheltered snooze. It’s not v. pleasant for last-minute kind of people (i.e. me), or those who have enough friends to make vaycays a group activity (i.e. not me).

Not gunna lie, it does sound like fun and much more hygienic / comfortable than a tent sitch, while also being a lot cheaper, more available and less likely to be cancelled last-minute than an Airbnb during this in-demand period. What a beautiful and lovely solution for you and your four mates during this time of need.
Located on the corner of Byron and Middleton Streets in the thick of it, Cape Byron YHA isn’t a regular hostel, it’s a cool hostel. It’s got a pool, BBQ area, cafe and free bikes and boogie boards for your perusal, as well as free wifi for all your late posts to the ‘gram. You’re gonna need to rid at least five while your actually at the festival, so you can, you know, get mileage of at least 10-20 for the months that follow back at home.
