M.I.A. hasn’t exactly been getting much sweet press in the lead up to her July 13 record release for album “// / Y /” – what with the controversial New York Times profile, whiny Lady Gaga disses and redhead backlash from her ‘Born Free’ video; but now Diplo (her former boyfriend and regular collaborator) has taken a shot at her new tunes, writing in a tweet (that has since been removed)
“just listened to mastr of the MIA album.. WOW.. my 3 trax are slammin! dunno bout the rest – sounds like skinny puppy ? & gives me nightmares?”.
Skinny Puppy is a Canadian post-industrial band. Is that way harsh? Should more people go for a post-industrial vibe? Is this a lesson in keeping business and pleasure separate? Are you over M.I.A.?
