Great Artists Showing In A Hood Near You

Don’t blame your alcoholism on boredom or how there’s never anything fun to do, because in the next couple of weeks there are so many great artists showing around Australia you’ll be forced to eat your hat.

Here’s a little taste of a few artists and exhibitions that we recommend checking out.

Who MEGGS
What The brand new collection of multi media works by Meggs is called ‘King For A Day’. It’s an exploration of the madness of celebrity in our world today.
When It opens tomorrow night 25 June and runs til 18 July.
Where Backwoods Gallery – 25 Easey Street, Collingwood VIC

Who LOUISE FORTHUN
What Painter Louise Forthun’s show was inspired by “the collision of urban and natural themes” that she discovered when visiting Tokyo one summer. At first look you think yeah whatevs it’s a few right angles and then you realise you’re looking at a beautiful and strange cityscape. The impulse to take a second glance can often be what makes art special.
When It opens tonight 24 June until 24 July
Where Boutwell Draper Gallery 82 – 84 George Street, Redfern NSW

Who TOBY MELONIE
What Only one of the gnarliest skate photographers Brisbane has ever produced. That’s not supposed to be funny either, jerks. Toby is a legend of his trade and this exhibition of his snaps is touted as “Grainy memories and 80s imperfection from the Wild Times skate zine vault”. Yew!
When It’s opening tonight too – charter your private jet because it’s going to be a busy one. Runs til 3 July.
Where Nine Lives Gallery – 694A Ann Street, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane QLD

Who DRYPNZ and FOOTHEAD
What If street art is your thing, no doubt both of these well-established NZ artists are on your Radar. Stopping-by is a joint exhibition that “considers missed opportunities and reflects upon what has passed or what could have been.” Reflect on that bitchez.
When It opens tonight 24 June and runs until Sunday 4th of July.
Where Oh Really Gallery – 55 Enmore Rd Newtown, NSW
