Another day, another Instagram star calls it quits. What on earth will we do without them all? Just post photos of our toast or socks or something, probably.
Regardless, today brings us another defiant fallen soldier of social media: @SocialityBarbie
The creator, 20 year-old Darby Cisneros from Portland, posted an image today essentially saying she’d said all she had to say, and she’s now toodlelooing outchea.
“It has open [sic] the door to a lot of great discussions like: how we choose to present ourselves online, the insane lengths many of us go to to create the perfect Instagram life, and calling into question our authenticity and motives.”
Cisneros originally created the account as an entertaining parody of how the Instagram-famous curate a false, more appealing life using the app. The account went viral as balls earlier this year, but apparently Cisneros cares not a bit, not a bit at all:
First the absolute shitstorm that has been Essena O’Neill‘s ‘social media is fake’ claims, now Hipster Barbie? Is Insty still Insty if it does not include the IG-famous? If an IG model posts a paid photo of a dress and no one likes it, did they really post it at all? Will our Real Eyes Realise Real Lies?
¯_(ツ)_/¯
