Sarah Michelle Gellar Is Officially Back In For ‘Cruel Intentions’ Reboot

It’s a golden age for people who remember things from the 90s, pals!

The quintessential babe of the decade, Sarah Michelle Gellar has confirmed that she’s returning to the wealthy nooks of New York City to reprise her iconic role as Kathryn Merteuil in a planned reboot of the cult sexytimes film Cruel Intentions.
Gellar confirmed the news in a post to Instagram, which also features Roger Kumble (who both wrote and directed the original, and wrote the pilot for the reboot) and executive producer Neal Moritz.

The reboot pilot is being commissioned by the NBC and picks up 15 years after the original left off.

Gellar, as Mereteuil, will serve as one of the key characters of the (potential) series, which will involve the child of the late Sebastian Valmont (played by Ryan Phillipe in the original movie) and Annette Hargrove (Reese Witherspoon).
Per the pilot’s synopsis:

“The project follows the cunning Kathryn as she vies for control of Valmont International as well as the soul of Bash Casey, the son of the late Sebastian Valmont and Annette Hargrove. Upon discovering his late father’s legacy in a hidden journal, Bash is introduced to a world of sex, money, power and corruption he never could have imagined.”

Or to put it another way, Kathryn’s definitely gonna try and bang her stepbrother’s kid.

Y’know, provided he’s not a loser.
Taylor John Smith has been brought on board to fill the role of Bash Casey. Samantha Logan is also confirmed for the cast.
No word yet if Reese Witherspoon (or, indeed, without a spoon) will rejoin the cast as well.
