Every now and again (read: every 24 hours, give or take) the lil’ blue nugget we like to call Earth completes a full pirouette in its endless dance around the sun. As a result, we get to see that massive, flaming ball of gas disappear under the horizon on a numbingly-regular basis.
In fact, most of our similes for “dependable and expected” literally make mention of the sun rising and setting. Like, we all know sunsets are magnificent and all that, but when every day is capped off with the same period of gradual darkening, the process can come across as… well, a bit meh.
Not today, though. Not in Sydney, ‘Cause the sky turned fkn pink, and everyone with a camera and an internet connection in the immediate vicinity needed to tell you all about it:
