Ryan Lochte Wasn’t Mugged, Actually Spent His Night Trashing A Gas Station

Look, there were a number of theories floating around about what actually happened to Ryan Lochte and his merry crew in Rio. We knew that the robbing story was most likely fabricated, as he was backpedalling on key elements all throughout yesterday. The big theories, as I saw them, were as follows:
  • A-grade shakedown at a Brazilian brothel
  • Alien abduction
  • Massive bender
Ding ding! It was, shockingly, number 3. And what a bender it was. Brazilian police have confirmed that Lochte and the three other swimmers involved lied when they said they were robbed. “The surveillance tapes show that there was no violence against the athletes at the gas station,” said Civil Police chief Fernando Veloso“Their claim that they are a victim of an assault or robbery or any kind of violence is not true.”

What actually happened is that they got into a confrontation with a security guard at a gas station in the Barra da Tijuca neighborhood after they… pissed on it. Yep. “They stopped next to the gas station, and urinated outside right next to the gas station. We even have images of one of the athlete’s butts, as he is pulling up his pants,” said the owner.
A police source says the athletes had torn a sign at the gas station and vandalised it. They apparently paid 100 Brazilian reals and a $20 bill to cover the cost of the damages to the bathroom, after one of them allegedly kicked a door down.
The Federal Police of Brazil have now confirmed that the athletes – specifically Lochte and James Feigen – have been indicted for their false robbery report.
Let that be a lesson to you all: if you’re gonna lie, try not to make up a story that the Brazilian police can easily disprove.
