Brooklyn duo Telepathe inhabit the kind of sample-heavy, rhythmically tribal no man’s land populated by New York brethren “Animal Collective” and “Gang Gang Dance”. And though the trio share stylistic similarities, Telepathe is far more ethereal than the former and waaaay more accessible than the latter. To me, it’s the warped soundtrack to a pagan wedding.
Their debut LP “Dance Mother” slated for a February 17 release, makes use of New York’s penchant for incest by enlisting members of “TV on the Radio” and “!!!” to lend a helping hand. Pitchfork reports:
“for their forthcoming debut full-length, they (Telepathe) received help from TV on the Radio bandmates Dave Sitek (production) and Kyp Malone (vocals), as well as !!!’s Shannon Funchess (vocals). As far as business associates go, you could do worse.”
Dayummmmmmm.
