Universally adored thespian and Australian Of The Year Geoffrey Rush will join the judging panel for Tropfest’s 20th birthday competition, as well as headlining the line-up for the festival’s inaugural cinematic symposium Tropfest Roughcut the day before the much-loved short film festival on Sunday February 19th.
Rush will join keynote speaker, the New York-based screenwriter and producer Charles Randolph (Love and Other Drugs), Kieran Darcy-Smith, whose new feature Wish You Were Here opened Sundance this month, as well as last year’s runner-up Jason Van Genderen to answer any questions you might have about the film-making discipline:
“Tropfest is turning 20, that’s serious frisky adulthood – so vicenarians, please join this sexagenarian for a cinematic chat on known knowns, known unknowns, and unknown unknowns… it’s a Q and A and I’d love to hear from you.”
The forum will be held at the Domain Theatre at the Art Gallery of NSW. Tickets are $35 for those of you not learned in the ways of the talkies, or $25 for previous Tropfest alum.
Last year’s winner was Animal Beatbox by Damon Gameau and this year’s signature item is ‘LIGHT BULB.’ Prepare to be enlightened.
