Ready to spice up your weekend Zoom/FaceTime sessions with your mates? Tired of sitting in a group chat with those same friends, all cooped up in iso, guzzling wine because literally nothing exciting has happened in any of your lives? Feast your deserving eyes on a new Zoom-based political murder whodunit game that’s being played across the globe.
The scene of the crime takes place at a dinner party hosted by China’s Xi Jinping. America’s Donald Trump, South Korea’s Moon Jaein, Japan’s Shinzo Abe, Italy’s Giuseppe Conte, and Australia’s bloody ScoMo are in attendance. They’ve all met up to discuss coronavirus-related affairs, and everything initially looks hunky-dory. Each Zoom-attendee (or household) assumes a character.
After each Zoom-attendee (or household) is then given a conversation starter to raise the stakes a little, before one of ’em is inevitably murdered. Each character then receives individual, unique clues and must collaborate with other players in a bid to figure out who did the damn thing. The poor murder victim becomes a ghost who still stakes part in attempting to solve the murder (they don’t sit in silence for the duration of the game – don’t sweat).
The whodunit is played via separate Google Drive PDFs which each player receives, unique to their character. The game is available in 6- and 7-player editions.
Sydney-based legend Kayla Medica created the game after weeks of iso boredom. “It was something I made because I was going a bit insane, being in isolation,” she recounts. “It started as a way for me to process my thoughts and emotions but has grown so much bigger than I ever could have imagined.”
