US Planning Commissioner Resigns After Literally Hurling His Cat During A Zoom Meeting

A US city planning commission meeting has taken a bizarre turn after one of the Zoom attendees threw his cat mid-conversation.

During last week’s meeting in Vallejo, California, the planning committee got together to talk about project applications and proposals.

The incident took place 2 hours and 24 minutes into the virtual conference, while the group were discussing Costco architecture.

Commissioner Chris Platzer was asked if he’d like to make any comments. His cat then started meowing.

“Okay, first I’d like to introduce my cat,” Platzer said, obviously rattled, picking up his cat and throwing it out of screen.

The cat let out a squeal before an audible thud left the Zoom group in momentary silence.

While one attendee nervous laughed, another gave up altogether, burrowing his head in his hands.

Very that.

“The city does not condone the behaviour that Vallejo planning commissioner, Chris Platzer, exhibited during the April 20 planning commission meeting,” Vallejo city spokesperson Christina Lee later said. “This type of behaviour does not model the core values of the city of Vallejo.”

Platzer resigned yesterday. The now-former commissioner has since apologised for the act.

“We are all living in uncertain times and I certainly, like many of you, am adjusting to a new normalcy,” he wrote in a resignation email. “I did not conduct myself in the Zoom meeting in a manner befitting of a planning commissioner and apologise for any harm I may have inflicted.”

PETA has been made aware of the incident.
