Scooter Braun Begs Taylor Swift To End Feud, Saying His Family’s Had Death Threats

Pop music manager Scooter Braun has called upon Taylor Swift to end their ongoing feud, claiming that he and his family have received death threats from aggrieved fans.

In a post to Instagram, Braun said he’s been the subject of “numerous threats” since Swift accused him and Scott Borchetta of dealing unfairly with the rights to her songs. He wrote:

“This morning I spoke out publicly for the first time saying I wouldn’t participate in a social media war. However, I came home tonight to find that my wife had received a phone call threatening the safety of our children …”

While he did not go into any further details, he said that he is “at a loss” after the events of the past week, and has decided there is “no situation” worth jeopardising the safety of others.

Addressing Taylor Swift directly, he said:

“I assume this was not your intention but it is important that you understand that your words carry a tremendous amount of weight and that your message can be interpreted by some in different ways … We are living in a time of pointless violence and as a husband and father I am concerned.”

The singer has not yet publicly responded, however, there’s no way of knowing whether this post about a snow globe from several hours ago is in fact some kind of weird power play:

Earlier this year, Scooter Braun acquired the Big Machine label and with it the rights to the Taylor Swift back catalogue.

Swift herself was upset at the sale, and said she was denied a fair opportunity to own the rights to her own songs.

She plans to spend next year rerecording her first decade’s worth of albums in order to regain financial control of the material.

This appears to be one of the main points of contention between her, Borchetta and Braun. It remains to be seen whether they can resolve their differences.
