The Oscars are still very much looking for a host, and if the people watching the Golden Globes have any say in the matter it’s a role that’ll be filled by Maya Rudolph and Amy Poehler.

The long-time great mates announced their arrival at the ceremony earlier today not with the usual pomp and circumstance of your standard Hollywood awards show arrival; rather than a limo or flying car or whatever, Poehler and Rudolph instead arrived via the majesty golf cart.

Once inside, they took full advantage of the limited stage time they received, firstly through Rudolph dropping one of the slyest jokes of the ceremony via a fun dig at host Andy Samberg…

“Thanks, Bill.” — Maya Rudolph

…and secondly with Rudolph dragging out one hell of a ring to “propose” to Poehler prior to presenting the award for Best Screenplay.

Inevitably, the calls for the pair to host the Oscars came in immediately, and in huge numbers.
Twitter folk couldn’t clamber over themselves fast enough to demand Academy bigwigs put the duo in for the vacant and apparently cursed gig.
it’s our 2019 oscar hosts, maya rudolph and amy poehler

And so on, and so on, and so on.
Obviously it wouldn’t be the first time Poehler’s hosted a major awards show – she and Tina Fey co-hosted the ceremony in 2013, 2014, and 2015. Rudolph, however, is slightly less versed in major awards hosting, but definitely no less absolutely ready.
As far as potential hosts go, the Academy could sure as shit do a lot, lot, lot worse.
Make the phone call, cowards.
