You Won’t Be Flying With Qantas Today

Qantas CEO Alan Joyce has grounded the entire airline in a desperate attempt to win back ground against unions.

The move, which was announced about an hour ago, means that there will be no Qantas flights for at least the next 24 hours. It caps off the dreadful few months for the airline, which has been at war with its own employees. Engineers, pilots and ground staff have all gone on strike, and Qantas has lost about $68 million since industrial action began. Much of the dispute centres around the airline’s plan to cut costs by outsourcing jobs to Asia.

Those who had flights booked over the weekend will recieve refunds and accomodation if they are mid-journey. Keep up to date by calling 13 13 13 or following the official Twitter.
