You Can Totally Surf Down The Side Of An Active Volcano

There’s not really much more that I can add to this beyond the fact that in Nicaragua you can absolutely slide down an active volcano for shits and giggles.

Literally skid down Cerro Negro (Black Hill) on a wooden sled, picking up speeds of up to 60km/h.

The site is actually an active, young volcano about 10km out of Malpaisillo, sitting at 728m elevation, and last erupted in 1999 after three earthquakes.

Look at that SPEED, Christ.

The hills of the volcano are made up of masses of tiny bits of volcanic rock, which lost grip and traction when you chuck a wooden sled on them.

Holy shit you guys, this looks fuckin’ WILD. Imagine zipping down a volcano as fast as a moderately-accelerating car, trying to not fall off in fear that a shitload of pumice might completely annihilate you.

I have to commend this guy on his 10/10 volcano surfing aesthetic. Very strong look, here.

Anyway this looks sufficiently nuts, sign me the fuck up.
