WHERE TO PARTY?
PACHA
USHUAIA
Steve says: “This is more of a festival layout. It’s outdoors, fits up to 9000 people and has a mega-stage with an incredibly large LED screen. Has a wild pool party vibe.”
AMNESIA
Steve says: “This is a huge club, an incredible club. It has one of the best residencies on the island in Cocoon, Sven Väth’s party that I went to when I first went to the island in 2007. This was where I was first introduced to minimal techno.”
SPACE
Steve says: This has Richie Hawtin’s party on Thursdays, Enter. It’s an incredible party because Richie puts so much time and attention into the brand. You walk into the party and every room is different. Every room has a different feeling, a different environment. So much attention to detail goes into that party. One of my favourites.”
DC10
Steve says: “Wednesdays you have Paradise, Jamie Jones’ party. This party, for me, is where all the real underground heads go who want to hear proper deep house. DC10 is kind of like the number one go to on the island for deep house music and that culture. It’s an incredible party that I was incredibly lucky to check out because my party is on on the same day.”
MAMBO CAFE
Steve says: “This is where we throw our pre-party every Wednesday. It’s another destination place. It’s another Ibiza legacy spot that has housed DJs for the last 20 years. The biggest DJs in the world play there for free. There’s no entry. You just go in and eat, watch the sun set, listen to some DJs. It’s where I play a completely different kind of set.”
PASSION CAFE
Steve says: “This is probably the place I went to the most. It kind of reminded me of Cafe Gratitude in Los Angeles. A lot of gluten free options, organic stuff, smoothies. By far the healthiest option on the island.”
EL CHIRINGUITO
Steve says: “This is a very socialite-y place. If you want to be seen on the island it’s very much that kind of place. It’s right on the beach, a lot of activity, a lot of tables. It’s a great place to get an introduction to Ibiza.”
FISH SHACK
Steve says: “Like the name says, it’s a shack that serves fish. So it’s a little rundown shack on a rocky shore in Sa Punta. You have to take a dirt road once again to get there. You can hike to get there from Destino, the resort I was staying at that’s owned by Pacha. It’s really simply cooked fish. There are no crazy chef secrets there. It’s just really fresh fish and seafood right on the rocks. It’s fast eating with a real homey vibe.”
ES VEDRA
Steve says: “I’d say one of the first destinations I would recommend going to is Es Vedra. It’s a magnetic rock off the island that’s very mystical. There’s a lot of stories and folklore about this rock. It’s illegal to actually step foot on the island so I’m not saying to do that but definitely get a boat around the rock and check out this incredible formation.”
GET IN THE WATER
Steve says: “When you get there you realise how beautiful the island is. I like to go out and explore and do a lot of water activities on the island. We always find cliffs to jump off of and spend as much time in the water as possible.”
