5 Hot Tips for Navigating NY with Ezra of Vampire Weekend

Amidst talk of the new album ‘Modern Vampires Of The City, hooking up with Steve Buscemi and grappling with the double-edged sword that is The Internet, Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig let us in on his Top 5 fail-proof activities for anyone’s short stint in NY, NY.

A man of measured logic and pragmatic reasoning, Ezra’s suggestions weren’t an opportunity for him to take out a dick measuring contest with himself in being edgy. Instead he reached deep inside his heart to recommend some decently tread and personally important places around town.

1. DINE (SEMI-CLASSY)

Veselka

‘I’m not a huge burger dude BUT I’ve always been  a fan of eastern European food and there’s this kind of classic, old-school Ukrainian diner called Veselka that’s in the east village. It’s open 24 hours.’

We checked out the menu and decided that all Australian Hungry Jack’s would experience a sharp decline in drunken patrons if somewhere like this existed here. See: hearty ukrainian style stew of kielbasa, roast pork sauerkraut and onions and mash.’ Hell, See: all of it.

2. DINE (UNFUSSY)

Pizza, anywhere.

“The New York pizza. New York is all about the pizza”.

There was little more to be said on the topic, making his assertions all the more adamant and, yes, probably pretty obvious. Pizza. New York. Let’s go. Who doesn’t like pizza? I can’t think of anyone except for maybe weight-conscious bitches who use a distaste for things with a high-calorie content to avoid getting plump like genetics wants them to, even though they fucking love pizza. ANYHOW, leave that guy at home and try as many (real, none of this Aussie micro adaptation bullshit) New York slices as your stomach capacity permits.

3. DRINK
The Bowery

Pedestrian:
Where are you going for a drink after a big day?

Ezra:
Well, I can’t give away my two favourites because i like to keep them nice and empty.

P:
Fine, I understand. Your third favourite then?

E:
I always like getting a drink at the bar at The Bowery Hotel… you never know how the crowd’s gonna be, but there’s always something i enjoy about hotel bars.

4. DANCE
Santos Party House

“I’ve never been a major dancer, it’s something I should work on. You won’t find me out in the club too often. However, they always have an interesting line-up at Santos Party House. One night they might have old school hip-hop or they might have new rap, or bands play there.”

Ezra failed to mention that Andrew W.K co-owns this place, so we’re mentioning that now. Party with the guy that invented partying; the guy who parties while he’s dreaming; the guy who wants to be killed from partying.

5. RELAX

Central Park

“It might seem like a bit of a cliche but sometimes i make a point of getting up there and i take a jog around the reservoir or something. There’s a reason why its so famous”

Address: 14 E 60th St, New York, NY 10022

We concurred in light of this recent video that Central park is the park dreams are made of.
