Samsung & Vivid Sydney Are Keen To Replace Luna Park’s Face With Yours

Samsung has just announced for the first time that it’s an official partner of Vivid Sydney. The huge partnership will see the company literally change the enormous face of Luna Park with the technology of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ smartphones.

If you still haven’t seen Samsung’s new lineup of phones, they come with the ability to digitalise your own bonce and turn it into a 3D emoji. The tech is pretty impressive and will be used for this event, dubbed ‘The Night. Reimagined‘. The humongous face of Luna Park has only been changed nine times in its 83-year history, and this will be the very first time it’s done with a digital emoji.

Upon entry into the two-storey installation – which will be located on the Sydney Opera House Forecourt  punters will be given the choice of two different pathways – one will take them to the AR Emoji station and related Galaxy S9 and S9+ features, while the other will take them on an immersive audio light and soundscape experience. Each path is inspired by the design of Samsung’s latest smartphones and will offer awesome / fun experiences to test out the low-light and slow-mo features of the Galaxy S9.

And after you whack your own face up over Luna Park’s, you’ll get a digital souvenir pack with images and selfies of the result. You’ll also have the opportunity to create your own slow-mo videos, which will be included in the pack for you to keep if you do so.

“Samsung is all about creating epic moments that use our technology to defy barriers and to do things they never thought possible,” Vice President of IT and Mobile at Samsung Australia, Garry McGregor, said in a release.

“There’s no better place to showcase the power of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ than at one of Australia’s largest and most exciting events – Vivid Sydney. What we’re doing at Luna Park and the Sydney Opera House Forecourt is truly unique and I encourage everyone to come and experience it for themselves.”

If you’re keen to give it a go, the installation will be operating on the Sydney Opera House Forecourt from 6pm every night during the Vivid festival, which runs from the 25th of May through to the 16th of June. Spaces are limited, so you’ll probably wanna get there early if you can.

Samsung’s also giving one lucky punter and three guests the chance to be the first new faces of Luna Park on Vivid’s opening night. Not in Sydney? No bloody worries – the prize includes flights, accomodation and a bunch of Samsung goodies. To enter, hit up your nearest Samsung store or head right here.
