Instagram Is Stopping Some Users From Sharing Posts To Stories & Won’t Somebody Think Of The Memes?

Instagram Update

We are all slaves to Instagram, therefore they can do whatever they like to their platform. They own it, so they are the bosses! The latest update making the rounds is an Instagram test which involves disabling the function of sharing feed posts to your Instagram Stories.

All those hilarious memes, relatable horoscopes and PEDESTRIAN.TV articles that you so love to share on your Stories? The folks at Instagram are trialling a world without these, after apparently receiving feedback that users are more into original content (ie. pics and vids filmed specifically for your Stories) and not second-hand stuff.

A Facebook company spokesperson told PEDESTRIAN.TV: “We’ve seen from research that people prefer to see original photos and videos in Stories from the people they care about. The goal of our test is to better understand how people feel about this type of content and ultimately improve the Stories experience.”

Users involved in the test will no longer have the option to share a post to their Instagram Stories, with a banner popping up explaining the change.

The test is being rolled out in select markets, with Instagram users from Chile, Thailand and Argentina replying to this Twitter thread and indicating that it’s been happening to them.

There’s no word on how long the Instagram test will be running or if it will be occurring globally, so keep sharing those memes while you still can.
