If you play ‘Fortnite‘, you’ll know that Epic Games likes to keep things fresh. Rather than offering the same battle royale experience over and over again, the company like to shake things up, whether it’s via changes to the game’s map or by adding powerful new weapons and items into the mix.
Welp, get ready for more changes, because according to a blog post on the company’s website, the team is thinking about revamping one of the most vital sections of the game – the final few circles.
“Fortnite is constantly evolving,” the post said. “Our goal with any changes is to keep the game fun and interesting, keeping it feeling fresh and new.”
Right now, the endgame usually plays out with people building structures to shield them or get the upper hand on their opponents. While this is a pretty popular approach, Epic is keen to bring the endgame beyond “just build lol”.
“We strongly believe that the evolution of ‘Fortnite’ supports a wide range of play styles and counterplay,” the post continues. “Currently, the superiority of shotguns, rockets, and uncapped building are such a dominant play style in the final circle that most other strategies are being drowned out.”
In other words, Epic wants you to be able to win a match using a number of different strategies, but as it stands, a few approaches seem to be more powerful than others. “We want to empower you to showcase your skill, strategy, and tactics in all variety of ways,” it said.
It’s unclear exactly what will change to make this happen, but the team says it’s exploring a bunch of changes to things like weapon balance and resource economy.
Whether you’re for the changes or not, it’s good to see Epic continuing to add and change content in Fortnite in order to keep it feeling exciting.
