If you’ve been meaning to give Call of Duty: Black Ops 4‘s battle royale mode, Blackout, a red hot go, you can do so for free for the entire month of April. The mode also now includes a new map, Alcatraz, which is designed for a smaller number of total players.
The new map is playable on PlayStation 4 right now but will be made available for all platforms at some point soon. Regardless, the free month is available to anyone wanting to play across PS4, PC, or Xbox One.
You can get a rundown of the map from the game’s design director, David Vonderhaar, and producer, Miles Leslie, below.

As you probably heard there, Alcatraz won’t have a collapsing circle like Blackout and similar battle royale games. Instead, you and your team are deployed from randomly appearing portals above the map. A total of 40 players are dropped into the area in teams of 4, so 10 teams all up.
Alcatraz will also contain more zombies than the OG Blackout map and allow you to respawn up to 5 times, you just have to wait 30 seconds before you can jump back in, assuming the rest of your team survives long enough.
Certain locations will have weapons you can buy, with new ones will spawning every 3o seconds. According to the team, learning which kinds of weapons spawn where will give a bit of an advantage.
If you didn’t already have enough battle royale games to play, here’s another one to squeeze into your collection. Keep in mind that this is only free to play, so if you decide you’re addicted after April, you’ll need to fork out for a copy of the game.
