One of the worst things about gaming is losing a hot streak. Like when you were younger and someone flogged your high score on Street Fighter and entered their name as ‘ASS’ or some shit. Or when you’ve finally knocked off that top score on Big Buck Hunter and go for a beer and come back to find someone else getting buck headshots all over the place. You could have waited until I left the pub, Keith. Christ.
One of the longest and most celebrated Xbox records was held for eleven years by Ray Cox (known as Stallion83). After playing legit hundreds of games, he’s racked up enough in-game achievements to land him a fkn Guinness World Record.

Stephen Rowe (known as smrnov) joined up to the Xbox Gamerscore system a month after Ray, and has kept pretty on-par with him when it comes to collecting achievements. He’s never beaten Ray, until this past weekend.
That’s right, an 11-year-long record came to an end when Stephen finally overtook Ray in achievements. It happened. What a combo-breaker.
Ray’s reasoning behind letting his record slip, though? He’s on his damn honeymoon. Well, more specifically, he was consummating his wedding with his new wife.

Which, I mean, that’s kinda more important, right? He’s not filthy that he’s been beaten, which I am directly attributing to all the endorphins coursing through his body whilst on his honeymoon.
Fuckin’ solid effort to someone who has hit just shy of 1.6 MILLION achievements and also managed to plan and hold a wedding.
Checking the leaderboard this morning, Stephen is still sitting higher than Ray. The stallion’s clawing his way back though.
