In 1965, Sherman Poppen invented the first snowboard by strapping two skis together and taking a surf down a hill in his backyard. He called it Snurfing. While the name didn’t stick, the concept did, with the sport of Snowboarding developing into an Olympic certified multimillion-dollar industry.
