I know it’s not exactly the most writerly thing to begin an article with a over-frothed expression of keenness, but sonofabitch this looks really fucking good.
Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs might be names familiar to a lot of you for their work as writers, producers, directors, and occasional actors on ‘Broad City.’
Turns out the pair hasn’t been content to rest on those particular laurels, and thus they’ve been hard at work on their debut feature film which has today copped its first trailer.
‘Rough Night‘ takes the standard “boys night out” movie concept and flips it on its head with an all-female lead cast of absolute legends, which includes Scarlett Johansson, Ilana Glazer, Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell, and Zoë Kravitz.
The movie follows a group of best friends from college who reunite for a wild hen’s weekend away together in Miami. The usual drunken shenanigans ensue until one of them casually manages to kill a stripper.
The trailer for the flick looks batshit nuts and dark as hell and for some reason Kate McKinnon does an Australian accent for the whole thing and it’s kinda decent?
If Ilana Glazer dropping c-bombs sounds like your idea of a good time, then strap yourselves in for this one.
Holy shit.
The extended cast also includes Demi Moore, Ty Burrell, and Colton Haynes. Downs and Aniello both wrote the script together, while Aniello serves as director.
It’s due to hit cinema screens from June 15th.
