We recently mourned the ever increasing bar closures infesting Melbourne, with the popular venue Mana Bar closing down. More than ever, live music venues are in even greater peril than bars around Australia, despite our best attempts to save the crumbling wreckage. But good news, everyone, Sydney is set to be gifted a new music venue for doing nothing whatsoever. Hooray!
Truly going underground, Century Venues will be adding to The Factory Floor (underneath the well-loved Factory Theatre) as a live music venue – its inaugural showcases are listed below. Take that, impending doom of live music venues. Take that.
The venue will be a promising beacon of live music support: “We’re doing everything we can to support local and touring bands and provide an environment that makes it a financially viable option to book shows, or simply come along and enjoy them,” said Mark Gibbons of Century Venues. The Factory Floor will have an all-too-rare 2 am license, outdoor courtyard and cheap beer. We’ll drink to that.
