Have you ever wandered past the Hush Puppies stand at your local pharmacy and thought, if only it were socially acceptable to wear such comfortable and stable footwear?
Well, if Stussy and New Balance have their way, the old grandpa sneaker could be making a strong play for fashion kicks of the season. Yup, they’ve created a truly old-folks-home worthy pair, popped them on a fuckboi, and voila – ladies and gents, we have fashion.
Sneaker diehards are well across the iconic New Balance 990 – Barack Obama is even a fan of the classic shoe style. And while it’s always had a bit of a ‘dad’ vibe, the collab they’ve just launched with Stussy truly outdoes itself with the “you kids get off my lawn!” vibes.
They’ve gone for a cream and white colourway, and kept the Stussy branding to a minimum – only on the insole and laces. Looking at them standalone you really can’t see ’em working, but popped on an absolute babe of a model repping chic trackies, and you’ve got yourself a style moment.
The sneaks are retailing for $389AUD, and they hit shelves in the States on Sept 29 – keep an eye on the Aussie site for the Down Under release.
