Rolf Harris Arrested Over New Sex Abuse Allegations

The ongoing allegations of sexual abuse by Australian entertainer Rolf Harris, 83, have been refreshed as the loud-shirt sporter, wobble boarding icon has been arrested and bailed in England, according to reports.

Despite the steadfast refusal by police to name Harris as the arrested—since accusations first emerged earlier this year, with The Sun reporting the entertainer was detained in March—it is widely believed that Harris is the man authorities are calling “Yewtree 5”. Yesterday, Harris faced further allegations than those put forward earlier in the year, first questioned in November 2012, with Metropolitan Police stating Harris “Has returned on bail today where he was further arrested on suspicion
of sexual offences in connection with further allegations made to
Operation Yewtree.”

The allegations that materialized in March this year came off the back of a similar, though unconnected, case involving English DJ Jimmy Savile receiving over 80 accusations of historic sexual abuse, part of the investigation in to alleged sex offenders known as Operation Yewtree. UK officers interviewed two Australian women who were allegedly abused sexually by Harris when they were adolescents.

Harris’ most recent public appearance, on Sunday in Hampshire, made an emotional address, “Just before I go any further, I would just like to thank you all for
my support … for your support.
” He continued: “I didn’t say it very well, but you know what I mean. Thank you for your support, I will always wear it.”
