NSW Fire Chief Says Tomorrow’s Bushfire Risk Is Literally Off The Charts

Welp.

New South Wales residents have been advised that tomorrow’s weather conditions will set a new precedent for fire danger, with the projected risk so high that previous scales have been rendered obsolete.

NSW Rural Fire Service commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons says “the conditions for Sunday are the worst possible conditions, they are catastrophic — we haven’t seen this in NSW to this extent ever.”
Fitzsimons went as far to say conditions will be worse than those surrounding 2009’s tragic Black Saturday fires in Victoria. To hammer the point home, he said “it’s not another summer’s day.

It’s not another bad fire weather day. This is as bad as it gets in these circumstances.”

Large swathes of the state will remain under the ‘Catastrophic’ fire danger rating tomorrow.
Residents of those regions have been advised that the RFS “simply cannot guarantee” fire trucks, aerial assistance, or telephone warnings will be available.
Fitzsimmons says “everyone in those areas should be considering moving to a safer locations,” either tonight or before conditions worsen tomorrow.
Anyone in affected areas should keep an eye on RFS and Bureau of Meteorology warnings.

Stay safe, guys.
