Lover’s Spring Summer 2009 collection, †White Moon Rising’, takes inspiration from the likes of Yoko Ono, Bianca Jagger, the experimental cinema of Kenneth Anger and the Zulu rituals of Africa whilst channeling that playful femininity for which they’re renowned.
The Spring/Summer collection employs a mostly muted colour palette of whites, blacks and greys but is broken up with bold prints of both the tribal and floral variety. To the longtime Lover err…lover enthusiast the duo’s usual design hallmarks are present: tailored suit jackets, cheeky playsuits, lace embellishments and high waisted shorts albeit in a somewhat more commercial direction. Stepping away from safer fare pieces such as the cropped trench coat with voluminous sleeves is sure to be highly coveted. Oh and we can’t forget the decidedly anti-glam swimwear with its waffle knit fabrications and vintage floral prints, Lover masterfully mix dowdy touchstones with straight up sex appeal.
