KONY2012 Video Sequel Debuts Tomorrow

The plight of activist group Invisible Children, and their (in hindsight) questionable mission to expose the alleged war crimes of Joseph Kony, unraveled as quickly as it originally spread; firstly, via challenges to the validity and legitimacy of Invisible Children’s existence, shortly followed by the subsequent public mental break down of its founder, Jason Russell. The 30 minute film, “KONY 2012”, that was the catalyst for an online movement of unprecedented scale, is getting a sequel which will debut online tomorrow (Tuesday, April 3, U.S. time).

After the reams of criticism received by its predecessor, it intriguing to see how “KONY 2012 Part II” will be handled. It will be interesting to see whether Invisible Children takes on the extensive negative responses as constructive feedback to improve upon the original film, or if they persevere with the same narrative structure considered by many as reductive or an over-simplification of a complicated issue.

Watch this space tomorrow for our inevitable break down of “KONY 2012 Part II”, which will go live on the Invisible Children Facebook page in the next few hours.
