One of South Australia’s richest entrepreneurs and the current fiancé to fitness god Kayla Itsines, Tobi Pearce, has reportedly been charged with reckless driving and possessing prescription drugs.
The 24-year-old business partner to Itsines’s fitness empire, Pearce was allegedly caught with four tablets of Cabolin, a drug commonly used to offset the side-effects of steroids, when he was stopped by police for driving recklessly along one of Adelaide’s busiest roads on February 26 last year.
With a combined wealth of $46 million, the couple came in at 51 and became the youngest debutants on last year’s BRW Young Rich List.
But while Pearce is currently CEO of the pair’s business The Bikini Body Training Company, 25-year-old Itsines is undoubtedly the face and core of the brand.
On top of founding and starring in the ridiculously popular ‘Sweat With Kayla‘ smartphone app, she has run sold-out boot camps across the US, developed over 6.4m followers on Instagram, and, having broken five Guinness World Records in one goddamn day, is a bonafide fitness queen.
This also won’t be the couple’s first brush with the law: the pair sued fellow Adelaide fitness bloggers Leanne “Freelee the Banana Girl” Ratcliffe and Harley “Durianrider” Johnstone for defamation in 2015.
Alleging that Ratcliffe and Johnstone used their respective Youtube channels to incorrectly claim that Itsines’ program starved people and Pearce was using steroids, the duo settled the matter out of court.
Pearce now faces a maximum two years jail time and minimum of one year driving ban if found guilty at a two-day Adelaide Magistrates Court trial in May.
