Queensland has become the first state government in the country to exercise compassion, logic and open-mindedness and make it legal for people to ride segways on footpaths and bikeways. But which other progressive, awesomeness-tolerant state is brave enough to join them?
In his crusade against conventional personal transport, Transport Minister Scott Emerson offered a compelling pro-segway argument for those still on the fence on this very important social issue.
“A lot of people have tried them in the past – they are great fun –
but I think they are also just another means of getting around and they
are pretty easy to use,” he said. “If I can use them, anyone can use them.”
As part of new laws, segway riders are required to wear helmets and be impervious to embarrassment.
