I know a guy who is a huge fan of great photography*, who has alerted me to the beautiful photoshoots** of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit “Rookie of the Year” Kate Upton. Kate is the face of Guess clothing – an obvious aesthetic consistency with the brand’s time honoured tradition of employing beautiful breasty blondes (Claudia Schiffer, Anna Nicole Smith pre-hot mess era) to advertise the clothes – and exclusively wears the Guess by Marciano capsule line in her latest spread in Contributor Magazine, shot by Yu Tsai.
And we shouldn’t forget her star-making Sports Illustrated cover that graphic design forgot but straight teenage boys did not:
She has also been the subject of sleazy Terry Richardson videos that have gone viral, claimed the #5 spot on the Models.com ‘Top Sexiest Models’ power ranking, inspired a dedicated celebratory tumblr, and proved her chops as a gif-maker’s wet dream.
If you can think of a mainstream model whose enjoyed greater exposure in 2012 I’d like to hear it.
