General Pants Unsuccessfully Photo Bomb The Zara Launch


Spanish retail giant Zara opened its first Australian flagship in Sydney today attracting an eager crowd of shoppers and every major media outlet in the country. Not everyone was so accommodating though, with youth retailer General Pants sending a group of pretty guys and girls to the opening wearing t-shirts emblazoned with the words “My Mum Loves Zara” – a manifesto presumably chosen to ridicule Zara’s…broad appeal?

We weren’t there so we can’t speak for the tactic’s effectiveness but when brands publicly call each other out like that – they flirt with danger. These things have a tendency to backfire and you can end up looking among other things: petty, threatened and worst of all for a brand that trades in youth, lame. Check it out below…
