WELL-HEELED FOLK REJOICE: Red carpet tour de force Oscar de la Renta is showing Down Under for the first time in local fashion history, closing Australian Fashion Week in May.
The classic ‘Murican fashion house will show its S/S16 collection, which hit the runway label at New York Fashion Week last September.
As is the label’s MO, it was all evening wear and lace and deep reds that everyone from Gigi Hadid to Tina Fey have since worn to various swank-fests.
Faaaarr too fkn expenno for us peasants own? Sure. But goddamn, it’s pretty to look at.
“We are very excited to partner with IMG and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia for our first show in Sydney,” says the CEO of de la Renta, Alex Bolen. “We look forward to bringing the world of Oscar de la Renta to stylish Australians.”
De la Renta is pretty much the only international label showing at the MBFWA, with the exception of Cynthia Rowley.
No word yet on who’ll sit FROW, but show attendees at NYFW included Karlie Kloss (a regular on the Oscar de la Renta runway) and Taylor Swift.
