Picking up a pair of Mickey (or Minnie) Mouse ears when you head to Disneyland / Disneyworld is a rite of passage. The ears have long come in various colourways and designs so everyone from glitter enthusiasts to minimalists could get their hands on their perfect set. But now Disney is upping the ante – with a collection of primo designer Mickey ears from big names like Vera Wang.

The Mickey ears are dropping each month – the first, a set in collaboration with Harvey’s, and LA brand that use recycled seatbelts to make handbags. Their ears, which dropped on May 24, feature recycled materials.

The Vera Wang Mickey ears are still in production stage, but Disney dropped a sneak peek online – yes, that’s a veil.

Vera made a statement about her ears, saying:

“I am both thrilled and honoured to have partnered with them to create the Vera Wang Disney wedding veil with the iconic mouse ears so symbolic of their global brand. The hand sewn crystal and pearl embroidery, together with the same silk and tulle fabrics that we use in our wedding gowns, bring a sense of authenticity and beauty to this signature headpiece. To brides and collectors alike, this is a special item to treasure and celebrate!”

Heidi Klum also put her hand to some ears.

“Bedazzling the most famous ears in the world is like a dream come true for me. I am still pinching myself. To all Mickey and Minnie fans — I hope you love wearing them as much as I do.”

Naturally, some of these Mickey ears are going for big bucks. The cheapest set will set you back around $84AUD, with the priciest going for around $875AUD. Hoo boy, that’s some Disney commitment right there.

You can only score the ears when each designer collection drops, and naturally they’re limited edition. The collections are available on the Disney online store, and in their parks.
