Designers, Use Your Education Wisely…

So you’re at design school and your tutor’s just given you a ruler, a piece of dental floss and a sachet of tomato sauce and told you to do your best MacGyver impersonation and create something great. This is basically how it goes, right?

In our current world, no one really quite knows the exact definition of ‘designer’ anymore, so how the hell do you know if you’re getting the most out of your degree? This is where Shaping the Future of Design Education comes in.

A VIVID Ideas panel presented by the Tractor Design School – a school created and designed to bridge the gap between education and professional practice – will be an ideal opportunity to hear about the future of design education and whether you’re doing enough to get that dream job once you graduate.

Featuring some of Australia’s top dogs of the design industry just itching to get all John Keating on students a la Dead Poet’s Society, the panel will be sharing their thoughts on how digital design should actually be taught.

It’s a fast growing industry, with technology constantly evolving, consumers wanting more and everyone looking to create the next game-changing app – so can you keep up? Are your skills up to scratch? Can you adjust?

These are questions panelist Nick Gower can answer. Co-founder of design agency Mentally Friendly and the Tractor Design School, Nick has a wealth of experience as a designer and a teacher, giving him a unique insight into what students need to know.

Not in Sydney? Can’t make it to Vivid? Wanna find out more before you head along to the panel? Connect with Nick on Pedestrian Coach. During his session, he’ll tell you what he thinks should be taught during your course AND he’ll give you a bunch of tips on how to use your design education to the fullest. Get coached HERE.
