THINGS WE KNOW TO BE TRUE ABOUT THE ACTOR MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY:
- Leans backwards on a movie poster real good.
- Is from Texas.
- Loves Texas.
- Really, really, really loves Texas.
- One of the true detectives.
- That’s a big bull?
As it turns out, another #TrueFact about the one who refuses to cease L-I-V-I-N is that he bloody loves the Texas Longhorns football team that represents the University of Texas at Austin.
The new College Football season is officially underway, and in preparation for a return meeting against Notre Dame, McConaughey decided to stop by Longhorns practice to give a third-act pep talk that wouldn’t sound out of place alongside Al Pacino‘s “football is a game of inches” speech from ‘Any Given Sunday.’
Such range! Such passion and clarity! Such inspiration!

“Work ethic will eliminate fear.”
Put that shit on a statue tout fkn suite.
Whatever it was that McConaughey actually said, it apparently worked. The Longhorns avenged their 2015 loss to the Fighting Irish in a 50-47 double overtime thriller in front of 102,315; the largest football crowd in Longhorns football history.
Whatever it takes, I guess.
