With one death threat (well, a joke one) levelled at him already, expect there to be plenty more shade thrown Kurt Tippett’s way after requesting he be traded to the Sydney Swans. The Adelaide Crows were initially supportive of Tippett’s departure on the grounds that he was returning home to Queensland, be it at the Suns or the Lions, but his alleged big-money long-term agreement with the Swans will surely leave a few noses out of joint. Tippett indicated that he was after a fresh start and pointed to the Swans famed off field culture as his motivation for the move.
It was a combined football/lifetsyle decision. It is obvious the Swans have a very special culture. I look forward to being a part of it, and playing a role in that team that can be in the premiership mix next year and beyond.

For the deal to be completed, the Swans will have to satisfy Adelaide’s terms of trade with the Crows sure to chase their pound of flesh. Just who the Swans offer up will be interesting because nothing brings a team together like a premiership so everyone will be keen to stick around for next years tilt. Expect Crows to create as much disharmony as possible. Ice cold.
